Charter in Belize

Dreaming On now based in BELIZE.

A wonderful sailing ground protected by the world's second largest continuous barrier reef.

Hundreds of islands to explore, beautiful blue water and spectacular snorkeling

WHY BELIZE ?

BELIZE is truly one of the world's last, relatively undiscovered travel destinations. The waters of Belize have so much to offer. Incredible diving, snorkeling, island hopping, beaches and eco tours.

An average temperature of 84 degrees throughout the year and warm water year round makes this a sailing destination that is hard to beat.

Dreaming On operates in the southern islands of Belize which are mostly uninhabited. We can almost guarantee an anchorage and an island to ourselves.

Everywhere we go, we find incredible snorkeling, with abundant fish and magnificent colours of hard and soft corals. Rendezvous diving can be arranged for experienced divers and diving introductory courses are also available.

Time it right, March to early June and you could dive or snorkel with the whale sharks migrating along the coast.

TRAVELLING TO BELIZE

For the US and Canadian traveler, Belize also offers the distinct advantage of being the only country in Central America with English as the national language.

More and more carriers are flying into Belize City, now including WestJet from Canada.

The only international airport in Belize is Belize City, (BZE). There are several good connections into Belize from the USA and Canada.

Direct flights now operate into Belize from Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Newark and Toronto. British Airways/American Airlines now operate a codeshare flight that connects from London to Belize on the same day via Miami.

STOPPING ON ROUTE TO PLACENCIA

We do not recommend spending any time in Belize City. If an overnight there is necessary, then we suggest the Radisson Ft. George.

Traveling from Belize City to Placencia is relatively easy. Regular internal flights are operated by Tropic Air and Maya Island Air. Both operators are reliable and flights are usually available that tie in with arriving international flights. Flight time to Placencia Airport is about 25 minutes.

The drive from Belize City to Placencia takes around 3.5 hours. The road is pretty good most of the way but still has many single lane bridges to be aware of. However, at present there are no practical one way car rentals. We have contacts with a number of reliable mini-van drivers who provide transport for this journey.

A very pleasant option if time allows, is to break the trip and stay a night or two at one of the Jungle Lodges, approximately half way. These lodges are in the mountains and offer jungle walks, cave tubing, cave jumping, rappelling, or just a great chilled out jungle experience.

Another option is to take in a trip to one of the superb Mayan ruins such as Xunantunich and Caracal, near San Ignacio.

Placencia has a number of low key resorts and guest houses for overnight stays and also has a good selection of restaurants and bars.

BELIZE DOLLARS

The currency in Belize is the Belize Dollar. However US dollars are accepted everywhere at a BZ$2 to US$1 standard rate. No need to exchange money at the bank.

When in Belize and quoted a price in Dollars, always assume BZ$ unless otherwise advised.
